Every winter, on the occasion of Christmas celebrations, Chambord Castle lights up with a thousand lights and makes the eyes of all its visitors shine. For the youngest, Chambord is perceived as the monument of fairy tales by essence. As for the older ones, they (re)discover an enchanting place!

New products 2019 :

– “Sapins de génie”, an exhibition and competition of fir trees created by brands selected both for their reputation and their know-how: choose the most beautiful tree!

– A decoration in the colours of the Italian Renaissance to mark Chambord’s 500th anniversary

and for the second year, very beautiful illuminations of the French gardens and lighting of the north facade of the castle

Chambord offers a timeless moment in an idyllic setting. As in previous years, Christmas activities will punctuate the life of the castle for a month.

For this seventh edition, Chambord dresses for winter by adorning its interior with majestic fir trees and a sumptuous decoration. From the ground floor to the 2nd floor, via the entrance porch, the famous double-revolution staircase and the chapel, the tour route is enhanced by the magic of Christmas.

The outside alleys are also embellished with a hundred magnificent fir trees that light up as soon as night falls, just like the yew trees in the French gardens.

Renaissance music and dances, strolls in the castle with the company Outre mesure
Chambord Castle becomes a must for Christmas celebrations during this winter period. While some will enjoy strolling in the French gardens, others will prefer to enjoy the rhythm of the musicians and admire the characters dressed in 16th century costumes. Between musical activities, singing and dance classes, old music, Chambord offers an artistic and magical Christmas.

Storytelling Readings
Through entertaining and playful stories, readers follow one another and captivate the youngest. It is a relaxing atmosphere, thanks to the atmosphere of the chimney fires, that everyone will discover in the rooms on the ground floor of the castle.

Exhibition “Discovering King Francis I”.
An exhibition, specially designed for children, retraces the life of Francis I on the first floor of the castle. Measure yourself next to the king, put together the puzzle of his armor, practice drawing the salamander… The children will discover the personality of the great king of the Renaissance!

Colourings
Beautiful illustrated plates and small colouring materials are provided free of charge for children. The latter thus express all their creativity by giving back colours to the French gardens of the castle. Nice memories to keep!

Meeting with Santa Claus
In the castle, children have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus, take pictures with him and exchange a few words about the magic of Christmas.

Trumpet concerts
Concerts are offered by the Trompes de l’école de Chambord. The traditional and friendly spirit of these meetings is appreciated by all.

Nature activities
A nature guide introduces children to the flora of the estate. A workshop to produce a map is proposed using plants previously collected from the estate’s forest. At the end of the workshop, the children leave with their cards.

Opening hours of the castle: 9am-5pm every day. The castle closes at 4pm on 24 and 31 December. Closed annually on December 25 and January 1.
