Persons with disabilities

Sensitive to the difficulties of persons with reduced mobility or with disabilities, the National Estate of Chambord maintains a policy of cultural accessibility.

Accessibility of the site

  • Spaces reserved in the parking lot: light-duty vehicles, camper vans and buses
  • Contrasting driveways to the château and its surroundings
  • Paved château courtyard
  • Access ramp to the ground floor of the keep
  • The Café d’Orléans and the carriage house

A visitor with disabilities is entitled to free admission for himself and his attendant, and they may circulate freely (château and gardens).
Parking is free for people with disabilities on presentation of their parking title and proof of proof

Audiovisual room: A 20-minute film on the architecture and history of Chambord, sub-titled in 5 languages (French, English, German, Spanish and), is streamed continuously in a ground floor room.

The dogs accompanying persons with disabilities are admitted inside the monument.

With the HistoPad, access to the commentaries and Renaissance reconstitutions on the upper floors. Version adapted for people with reduced mobility, French sign language version and audiodescription version for the visually impaired).

Electric carts are available for rent so that you can effortlessly enjoy the château surroundings (the electric carts are not admitted in the formal French gardens).

Seat sticks and wheelchairs are on loan (depending on availability at the ticket office (between the car parks and the château) or at the château reception.

Heritage workshops: A wide-ranging and comprehensive program of pedagogical activities will meet the expectations of teachers and specialized educators. We remain at your disposal to facilitate customization and coordination of these activities with our educational service.
