Patrons and partners

The Domaine national de Chambord would like to thank its patrons and partners, who have supported the 500-year projects.

Because the maintenance and transmission of this heritage must be everyone’s business, the Domaine national de Chambord appeals to everyone’s generosity. Chambord would like to thank the patrons and partners who support these various projects launched on the occasion of the 500th anniversary.

Generali: a patron who has been promoting Italy in France for more than 20 years

For nearly 25 years, the common thread of Generali France’s artistic sponsorship actions has been the enhancement of Italian heritage in France, taking into account the historical roots of its parent company.

At the end of the 1990s, with the Institut de France, his work began with the restoration of the great fresco by Giambattista Tiepolo and support for the exhibition “Primitives Italiens” at the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris. It continued in 2003 at the Château de Chantilly with the renovation of the Giotto’s Cabinet, and in 2006 at the Royal Abbey of Chaalis with the restoration of a Primatice decoration.

Generali France also regularly supports temporary exhibitions on Italian Art: the exhibition of reproductions of Giotto’s frescoes from the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi to the Sorbonne (2004), the exhibition “Le Paradis de Tintoret a” at the Louvre Museum and the travelling exhibition “Splendours de Venise” (2006 – Caen and Bordeaux). More recently, Generali was the patron, in 2017, of the exhibition “Leonard in France” at the Italian Embassy or the retrospective “Eblouissante Venise ! “at the Grand Palais in 2018.

It is in line with this policy that the partnership with the Domaine national de Chambord is part of this policy. Leonardo da Vinci’s imprint makes Chambord a monument whose architecture is under Italian influence and a symbol of the cultural proximity of the two countries. Generali France is a sponsor of the exhibition “Utopia at work” and the creation of the permaculture vegetable garden.

At the request of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, Philippe Donnet, CEO of the Generali Group, has been appointed Chairman of the Patrons Committee to promote Chambord’s 500th anniversary projects to French and international companies.

EDF: patron of Chambord's illuminations

In 2019, we are celebrating the half millennium since the beginning of the construction of Chambord Castle. As part of this anniversary, EDF is creating a circadian illumination of the castle. The design of this new moving light, similar to natural sun and moonlight, will reveal the beauty of Chambord’s architecture while respecting the wildlife that lives in the area.

As the leader on the energy market in Europe, where it is the leading producer of low-carbon electricity, EDF is forging skills-based sponsorship that extends its social and environmental commitment. Being a major player in energy means imagining and committing to a future in which electricity and energy transition are essential.

In Chambord, EDF contributes to the development of an exceptional heritage through its expertise in the fields of light by mobilising its teams and their know-how.

As a public service provider and strong in its values, EDF is also a player rooted in the regions and wishes to support key events, such as the 500th anniversary of Château de Chambord, which contribute to the excellent reputation of the estate and beyond, an entire region.
