A major campaign to restore the François I Wing now needs to be conducted in short order. Under the supervision of Maël de Quelen, Chief Architect of Historic Monuments, the restoration work will begin in early 2026 and continue until 2030. The work will focus on consolidating the masonry, restoring the sculptures, and repairing the timber frames using period techniques. In a later phase, the museography and scenography will be redesigned.
€37 million are needed to restore the royal wing. Given the scale of this challenge, the commitment of the French State — the owner — and of the Domaine national de Chambord is absolutely essential. However, their support alone cannot guarantee the rescue of the wing. To fund this vital project, Chambord is seeking patrons to follow in the footsteps of Francis I, the great defender of the arts and letters.
Join this movement to save a masterpiece! Every donation contributes to this collective effort to preserve our heritage.
Together, let’s ensure the rebirth of the François I wing and pass it on to future generations. Become a guardian of Chambord’s heritage!
