Le 29 septembre 1820, la duchesse de Berry met au monde le futur duc de Bordeaux, acclamé comme « l’enfant du miracle », le dernier héritier mâle de la branche aînée des Bourbon né quelques mois après l’assassinat de son père. Par une souscription nationale, ses partisans royalistes lui offrent le domaine de Chambord. Cette œuvre éminemment politique, acquise par son grand-oncle Louis XVIII en 1824, constitue un véritable portrait de la famille royale avec notamment, à sa gauche, ce même Louis XVIII annonçant à la cour l’heureux événement.
On 29th September 1820, the duchess of Berry gave birth to the future duke of Bordeaux. He was acclaimed a “miracle child”: the last male heir of the senior branch of the Bourbons who was born a few months after his father was assassinated. Following petitions made nationwide by his royalist supporters, he was given the Chambord estate. This eminently political painting, acquired by his great-uncle Louis XVIII in 1824, portrays a full royal family line-up, and shows, on his left, the same Louis XVIII announcing the happy event to the court.
Am 29. September 1820 bringt die Herzogin von Berry den als „Wunderkind“ gefeierten, zukünftigen Herzog von Bordeaux zur Welt, den letzten männlichen Nachfahren der älteren Linie der Bourbonen, der einige Monate nach dem Mord an seinem Vater geboren wird. Mittels einer nationalen Spendenaktion schenken ihm seine Befürworter das Anwesen Chambord. Dieses äußerst politische Werk, das sein Großonkel Ludwig XVIII. 1824 erwarb, ist, insbesondere mit ebendiesem Ludwig XVIII. links im Bild, wie er das freudige Ereignis bekannt gibt, ein wirkliches Familienporträt der königlichen Familie.
