From the ground floor to the second floor of the château, the HistoPad guides you through 16 stations and points of interest, helping you better understand the spaces, the décor and life at court.
At every step, King Francis I is your guide, accompanying you through immersive and interactive content with audio that brings the monument to life.
The HistoPad gets a brand-new look!
The HistoPad visitor companion has been accompanying château visitors for over 10 years. Building on its success, it is being reinvented in 2026 for an enriched visit experience centred on the Renaissance.
Thanks to the Doors of Time placed along the route, visitors can discover the château at their own pace and in complete autonomy:
- Nine 3D historical reconstructions created with Renaissance experts, taking you back in time alongside King Francis I
- Narrative sequences in which Francis I, the builder of Chambord, introduces the château and its inhabitants
- Chambord’s architecture and symbols through 360° photographs enriched with media, as well as virtual access to several areas closed to the public
- An interactive map to help you easily find your way around the château
Designed for all audiences
The HistoPad is designed for everyone and includes:
- An interactive treasure hunt within the immersive views for the enjoyment of the whole family
- A historical selfie: strike a pose dressed as Francis I, Leonardo da Vinci, or even the Mona Lisa
- A digital guestbook to share your experience
Available in twelve languages, the HistoPad also offers:
- A version adapted for visitors with reduced mobility, allowing them to explore all stages of the visit remotely
- A visually impaired mode with optimised text readability

The HistoPad is available as an add-on to the château admission ticket and is included in the day passport, allowing you to make the most of your discovery of Chambord.
