Don’t miss at the Château
1. The terraces
A fabulous array of skylights, soaring stairway turrets and chimneys festively dressed up in inlaid mosaic. The lantern tower with a fleur-de-Lys is the highest point of this altogether remarkable building.
2. The double spiral staircase
An unprecedented architectural feat, the double spiral staircase is without a doubt the most striking part of the whole monument. The two flights making it up have a surprise in store for users: two people can climb them without ever crossing paths, even though they can see each other. Definitely an experience worth trying!
3. Coffered vaults
The second floor of the Château is simply breathtaking: sweeping surbased arches comprising 400 identical coffers fill the vestibules with François I’s coats of arms: the salamander and the famous F.
4. The chapel
Built in the wing opposite the King’s to highlight the divine aspect of the monarch’s power more clearly, the chapel is the largest room in the Château.
