Christmas at Chambord

Starting on 1 December, in a magical holiday atmosphere, discover Chambord as you had never seen it before!

For the fifth year, Chambord will adorn its interior with majestic Christmas trees and sumptuous decorations.

From ground level to the first floor, through the entrance porch and inside the chapel, the visitor’s itinerary will be sublimated by Christmas magic.

The outdoor pathways will likewise be embellished with a hundred magnificent Christmas trees illuminated at nightfall.




“La Belle et la Bête… une nouvelle histoire” (Beauty and the Beast…a new story”)

Theatrical adaptation of Madame d’Aumnoy’s fairy tale “The Green Serpent”.

Spectators will be transported and share the adventures of Princess Laideronette, transformed by a witch into an ugly woman, as she strives to break the spell and be reunited with the man she loves.  .

A baroque and marvelous show for children of all ages, with 16th-century costumes expressly created for the special occasion.

On the program: conspiracies, journeys, special effects from bygone times, artistic fencing, ancient music and a multitude of additional surprises…


Duration: 1 hour

Seating capacity: 300 seats in a heated and sound-equipped room within the chateau

Period: the 16 and 17 December and from 23 December through 7 January

Scheduled performances: two shows per day 11:30 a.m and 3 p.m

From the 1 December:

Traditional wood games (Louis XIV billiard, bagatelle, etc.) and board games (snakes and ladders, ludo, etc.)


The 16 and 17 December and from 23 December through 7 January:

Artistic fencing, ancient music, nature activities, choral groups, strolling costumed characters, fireside fairy tales, encounters with Santa Claus and numerous additional surprises…

Practical information

The chateau is open from 9:00 am until 05:00 pm. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.

Show and activities: the 16 and 17 December and from 23 December through 7 January

No show and activities on: 24, 25, 31 December and 1 January

The chateau will be closed on 25 December and 1 January

To anticipate the 500th anniversary of Chambord, we are launching a campaign to adopt a vine in Chambord’s historic vineyard, planted in 1518.
