Leonardo’s genius in practice

From the Château du Clos Lucé to the Château of Chambord

At the invitation of King François I, Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life in Amboise. At his final home, the Château du Clos Lucé, and at the Château of Chambord, the plans and double spiral staircase of which were inspired by his designs, your pupils will experience for themselves the amazing genius of Leonardo, architect and inventor!

• At the Château of Chambord: a half-day workshop
  You will participate in the “Imagine and build like Leonardo” workshop.
  After taking a look at its façades, the children will build a wooden model of the whole château around the double spiral staircase.
  The workshop puts Renaissance notions of measurement, modularity and symmetry into practice.
  
  
• At the Château du Clos Lucé: an open visit with teaching aids and a workshop

You will visit the château with teaching aids supplied on the theme of sciences and techniques.
You will participate in the “invent and draw like Leonardo” workshop.

The workshop, which focuses on drawing and pasteling, follows in the footsteps of Leonardo, and will help your pupils understand the workings of one of his most famous inventions – the helicopter.
