Educational Department

Bearing witness to the rich heritage of a region where architectural and natural treasures go hand in hand, Chambord is indefatigable in seeking to attract the attention and interest of our younger citizens.

As a part of the Val de Loire area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Estate keeps issues in play today firmly in mind, particularly those concerning the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

To this end, the National Estate of Chambord’s educational visits and events department, in collaboration with two coordinating teachers, has a full range of events and workshops on the programme, especially designed for young people. The site’s very richness offers possibilities for tackling a wide choice of subjects, facilitating implementation of interdisciplinary projects and enabling students to involve themselves actively in their country’s heritage.

Such educational possibilities are supported by a range of National Education mechanisms, alongside academic activities provided for in the agreement drawn up between the National Estate of Chambord, Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Education Offices.

There cannot be any doubt that education in national heritage fulfils a number of basic knowledge and skills requirements, and what could be better suited to its purpose than this unique site, where young people come face to face with time and space, where past meets future and whose every aspect is a tool for learning and discovery?
