"Trompes de l’école de Chambord", the group

Chambord’s hunting-horn school has produced its own musical group - the Trompes de l’Ecole de Chambord, a not-for-profit association under French Law 1901.

This excellent idea came from two men who were directors of Chambord at the time: Xavier Patier and Francis Forget:
“We have a hunting-horn school, so why not have our own hunting-horn group?”

The group was formed in 2003 and is entirely composed of players belonging to the hunting-horn school. There are currently 18 members, selected by the Musical Director Pierre Charpentier because of their aptitude for group playing.

Les trompes de Chambord

They wear the same traditional green hunting frock with russet facing and braiding as the Trompes de la Haute Touche (36), to which Pierre Charpentier once belonged, along with the school’s own pin, a russet waistcoat without braiding, and reddish white breeches.
They all come from the surrounding area, and their current President is Alain Ragois from Suèvres (41).

Rehearsals take place every Monday evening at la Hannetière or la Gabillière.
The group takes part in a range of events held at Chambord (and only at Chambord):
  • The “Tableaux de Chasse” in winter,
  • “Mini-concerts” held at the château every Sunday in July and August,
  • Mass at Saint Hubert’s chapel,
  • Receptions at the château.

The group is an integral part of the National Estate of Chambord.
