Who are we?
The National Estate of Chambord, a state-run industrial and commercial establishment
The National Estate of Chambord, created by article 230 of the law of 23 February 2005 on rural development, is a state-run industrial and commercial national establishment. Statutory decree 2005-703 of 24 June 2005 entrusts it with a number of missions:
• Conserve, draw up inventories, protect, restore and enhance.
• Showcase and put on public display.
• Welcome the public and increase visitor numbers.
• Disseminate knowledge about the château and estate.
• Design and run educational and publicity initiatives.
• Research the estate’s architecture, collections, gardens, forest, fauna and hunting.
• Manage the estate’s forest based on sustainable development principles.
• Manage hunting on the estate with the aim of achieving a woodland-hunting balance and preserving biodiversity.
• Develop the establishment’s resources.
The Board
The National Estate of Chambord établissement public à caractère industriel et commercial (EPIC or a state-run industrial and commercial establishment) was created on 1 July 2005 and is under the patronage of the French President and the authority of the French Ministries of Culture, Agriculture and Ecology. It is run by a board which sets the guidelines for its work.

Advisory Council
The Advisory Council gives its opinion on the Chambord state-run establishment’s commercial, hunting, forestry, scientific and cultural policy and any issue submitted to it by the Chairman of the Board. The council meets at least once a year.

The Collections' Commitee
The Collections Committee gives its opinion on the broad lines of the Chambord public establishment’s acquisitions policy and on collection development. Chaired by the managing director, the committee has five ex-officio members: two employees of the public establishment who are appointed for their skills and a representative from each of the French Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries, Culture and Communication and Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Land Planning. The committee also has three qualified members who are specialists in French history, wildlife and hunting.
